DK Agrawal,is Director at EPS Pvt. Ltd. and is having over 37 years of national & international experience in various spheres of power sector with TCE and NTPC Ltd. He is an independent consultant for Energy & Efficiency Management. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. He has worked for 4 years in erection & commissioning of first 210 MW Unit and 9 years setting-up NTPC design and engineering wing. The experience with TCE and on-site exposure at BEI-UK at NTPC helped in contributing improvement in engineering processes. Thereafter, he worked for about 4 years at NTPC-Unchahar Power Plant and was instrumental in quick turnaround (within 2 years) of taken over plant from state utility.

Subsequently he worked for 14 years in the field of Efficiency and Reliability, at NTPC corporate group, CenPEEP (Center for Power Efficiency and Environmental Protection) – a collaborative bilateral project with USAID (US Agency for International development). He has also worked on other bilateral projects with JICA (Japan) and with many SEBs for Efficiency & Reliability pilot projects for capacity building and technology transfer, leading to improvements in plant efficiency and reliability.

At CenPEEP, he was responsible for the development and implementation of Efficiency Management System and Strategies, as well as Reliability Strategies. As head of the group, he also developed various training modules and conducted training programs for NTPC as well as other entities in the Power Sector. His active involvement led NTPC CenPEEP to win national and global recognition and several awards such as the USEPA and IEA Awards on climate change initiatives etc.

He held leadership positions in various divisions of NTPC. As head of NETRA, the Research Wing of NTPC, he was involved in development of good number of new and innovative technologies, providing state-of-art scientific services to power stations. He was recognized as lead person in the domain of technology development for power sector.

Post superannuation, he is working as an independent consultant. He is engaged as consultant by one of the leading IPP and State Utility for establishing Energy & Efficiency Management System across the organization. He is alsoan independent adviser to SEB’s & IPP’s in Efficiency and Reliability area.

Pankaj Bhartiya

Director , EPS

Pankaj Bhartiya, is Director at EPS Pvt. Ltd. and an independent consultant for Efficiency and Reliability in the Power Sector. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology (NIT) Kurukshetra. He has over 35 years of experience in the power sector with NTPC Ltd. He has worked for 20 years in the Coal based power plant in the field of Instrumentation and Controls design, commissioning, renovation and modernization. Thereafter, he worked for 17 years in the field of Efficiency and Reliability, at NTPC corporate group, CenPEEP (Center for Power Efficiency and Environmental Protection) – a collaborative bilateral project with USAID (US Agency for International development). He has also worked on other bilateral projects with JICA (Japan) and with many SEBs for Efficiency & Reliability pilot projects for capacity building and technology transfer, leading to improvements in plant efficiency and reliability.

At CenPEEP, he was responsible for the development and implementation of Efficiency Management System and Strategies, as well as Reliability Strategies such as Predictive Maintenance, Reliability Control mechanisms and Risk Based Maintenance Strategies. He was also responsible for development of corporate strategy for implementation of PAT (Perform Achieve Trade) for NTPC. As head of the group, he also developed various training modules and conducted training programs for NTPC as well as other entities in the Power Sector. His active involvement led NTPC CenPEEP to win national and global recognition and several awards such as the USEPA and IEA Awards on climate change initiatives, and Times of India-Earth Care Award for SAARC Countries, etc.

Post superannuation, he is working as an independent consultant. He is associated with USAID on projects as an advisor on Clean Fossil Technologies and PACE-D Technical Assistance program. He is also working as an independent consultant with Power Plants and SEBs on Efficiency and Reliability. He is a member of the International Society for Automation (ISA) and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by ISA in 2013.

M K Samuel Kutty

Director , EPS

M K Samuel Kutty, is Specialist (EEMS)at EPS Pvt. Ltd. and is having over 35 years of experience in the power sector with NTPC Ltd. He is an independent consultant for Energy and Efficiency Management in the Power Sector. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut. He has worked for 21 years in the Coal based power plants of NTPC in the field of Operation, Efficiency, Commissioning and Electrical Maintenance. He was also head of O&M at NTPCs Jhajjar Thermal Power Plant (3 x 500 MW). He worked for 13 years in the field of Energy &Efficiency Management System, at NTPC corporate group, CenPEEP (Center for Power Efficiency and Environmental Protection) – a collaborative bilateral project with USAID (US Agency for International development). He has also worked on other bilateral projects with JICA (Japan) and with many SEBs for Efficiency Improvement pilot projects for capacity building and technology transfer, leading to improvements in plant efficiency.

At CenPEEP, he was responsible for the development and implementation of Energy &Efficiency Management System. Under this project Performance testing and Evaluations carried out in Turbine, Condenser, Feed Water Heaters, Boiler Feed Pumps& Cooling Tower areas in NTPC and many SEB power plants. A comprehensive reference document on Energy & Efficient Management System was developed with an aim to implement uniform system of efficiency monitoring, performance testing, performance gap assessment, calculations of key performance indicators and reporting.His active involvement led NTPC CenPEEP to win national and global recognition and several awards such as the USEPA and IEA Awards on climate change initiatives etc.

He also worked as head of PG test group for 1 year at NTPCs Corporate Operation Services division. As head of the group, he was responsible for approval of PG test procedures and Conductance & Evaluation of PG Tests. Post superannuation, he is working as an independent consultant.

Rajendra Singh

Director , EPS

Rajendra Singh is a Specialist at EPS and has over 30 years of experience in the area of Power Plant commissioning and performance testing. Apart from his career in BHEL, he is also a certified enery auditor by BEE. He holds a Masters degree in Electrical engineering and is an ‘Accredited Energy Auditor’ from BEE. At BHEL, Mr Singh was instrumental in Proving of Contractual Guarantees (e.g. Plant Heat Rate, Condenser Vacuum & Auxiliary Power Consumption etc.) by conducting Performance Tests at sites for contract Closing, establishing Apex Level, NABL Accredited 3 number Calibration Laboratories for calibration of various High Precision Test Instruments as follows and also ensuring for smooth running of these, Commissioning Support for all type of power plant Equipment, Trouble Shooting for their operational problems and their Performance Guarantee Testing and generation of daily / monthly / annual Performance Reports for Monitoring Purposes.

He has also worked with EESL, a leading Energy Efficiency consultants as Consultant and was responsible for reviewing / arranging final submission of Baseline Energy Audit Reports of various Thermal Power Stations (Coal, Gas & Diesel Based) under PAT (Perform Achieve & Trade) Scheme developed by BEE & notified by Govt of India considering the legal requirements under Electricity Act, 2001 for Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency Improvement in Energy Intensive Industry Sectors. He has successfully performed energy audits at CGPL (Tata Power Ltd) Mundra Ultra Super TPP ;Captive Power Plants at IOCL’s Panipat& Mathura Refineries and of BPCL’s Mumbai &Numaligarh Refineries ; Orient Syntex, Bhiwadi, Rajasthan ; Gujarat FluroChemicals Ltd, Dahej, Gujarat ; DCR Thermal Power Plant at Yamuna Nagar of HPGCL ; Mettur TPS, Tuticorin TPS ; North Chennai TPS ; Tata Power Trombay, Mumbai ; Obra&Harduaganj Thermal Power Stations of UP RajyaVidyutUtpadan Nigam.

Ashwini K Sinha

Director , EPS

Retired as Additional General Manager NETRA (R&D Wing of NTPC), NTPC in July 2012. At NETRA, Mr. Sinha was heading Corrosion Analysis, Monitoring & Control; Water Treatment; Environmental Sciences and Program Office Groups. His experience for almost 30 years is with NTPC (R&D) and prior to that, 5 years with BHEL (R&D), Hyderabad. He holds a Masters degree in Electrochemistry and a P.G.

Diploma in corrosion Science & Technology.
